The Hold Fast Mentality
The “Hold Fast Mentality” is what we here at Hawser Thread Co. live by in our day to lives.
"Hold Fast" was originally a nautical term, often tattooed across sailors’ knuckles.
It literally meant to “hold fast” to the rigging of a ship during rough seas or battle - to not let go, no matter what. In the chaos of a storm or conflict, holding fast could mean the difference between life and death, or success and disaster.
“Hold Fast” has evolved into a broader mindset - a philosophy that can apply to life, training, business, or personal challenges.
Stay Steady in the Storm: Just like sailors facing a storm at sea, it's about staying strong when life gets rough - not panicking, not giving up, just digging in and riding it out.
Don’t Let Go: Whether it’s a dream, a goal, or a belief, the hold fast mentality encourages you to cling tight to your purpose even when things get turbulent.
Strength Through Endurance: It’s not about brute force - it’s about mental toughness, patience, and resilience. The ability to stay committed over time, even when the rewards aren’t immediate.
Brotherhood & Loyalty: Among sailors, it also implied trusting your crew, having each other's backs, and facing hardship as a team. It’s a reminder that resilience is often a shared strength.
For us, the “Hold Fast Mentality” is a lifestyle that we try to embody everyday. We end all of our posts with “Hold Fast” - This is why, it’s our way of letting you know we are here for you.
Hold Fast.
